I had not watched soaps for approximately 10 years, until one day I came across the pairing of John and Evangeline. All I can say is WOW! They gave me something that, as a professional woman, I could relate to. Adult conversations about relevant issues, undeniable passion, all of which are things that would hold my interest. Although I only came upon the show in May of 05, and shortly thereafter they split up, I was able to go online and review a lot of the clips of their relationship. Once again, absolutely fabulous! Needless to say, I have gotten a lot of my friends and family to watch and they agree with me whole-heartedly.
I have never ever entertained the notion of writing to a television show regarding anything or anyone in my entire life...but somehow this time I felt compelled to speak out in favor of this beautiful couple.
Michael Easton and Renee Goldsberry do an excellent job of conveying the emotion and depth of their scenes. Their style gives a feeling of such realism that I feel as if I know them as perhaps friends of mine. They have chemistry the likes of which I have not seen in daytime in quite a while.
I have continued to watch OLTL in the hope that these two would be reunited. I have grown weary. I only make time for one soap a day and as of late I have become interested in Young and the Restless. I see something there that appeals to me. I have been an ABC watcher since junior high school and I would like to stay. All I can do is ask that you reconsider this fabulous relationship that is John and Evangeline.
Thanks for listening.

I wanted to take a moment of your time to say what I like most and what I've missed on One Life to Live. Add this letter to the many letters that you've received in favor of John McBain and Evangeline Williamson.
The time that John spent with Evangeline was a period of growth for the both of them. It was an amazing time. They moved from a playful dare to a real friendship and a mature relationship. They grew and communicated in the ways that real couples communicate. They worked out their problems and were both better people as a result of it. I still see the sparks and I always look forward to their talks and their interactions with one another.
John was a different and a likeable guy when he was with Evangeline. He articulated it very clearly during the premature and reckless "break-up" of this great couple. I put the break up in quotes because I am in no way convinced that they're over. I think that the writers took a hasty short cut to introduce another character. Clearly there were other ways to reintroduce Cris, but this is not the real purpose of my letter. I want to focus on what I like and what I miss about John and Evangeline.
There's too much unfinished business and this is a couple that I continue to follow, support, encourage and speak out for now and in the future. It's sort of like Nora said, the best is yet to come for John and Evangeline. The writers and the people who have anything to say about the concepts that are played out in this show just have to remove their self-imposed handcuffs and blinders and tell a story that many fans would simply love to see played out every day.
There was a light in John's eye and a bounce in his step when John was with Evangeline. Even with his issues - and he and Evangeline addressed those issues on a regular basis - John still admitted that he was getting better everyday. I miss that continued growth. I feel that yes, more of his demons have been revealed, but the growth that I was looking for has been stagnated by this silly triangle business. Real couples, and I believe they're the real couple, do not go outside of their relationship to fix it. Real couples stay within the relationship and fix it between themselves. The addition of added people changes the dynamic and causes the writers to write differently.
I think that the writing for the character of Evangeline has been suffering of late. The thing that I really loved about Evangeline is the fact that she was strong and focused on her work and her beliefs - a lot like John. Evangeline and John have so much in common and I saw this and couldn't help but root for them to succeed.
There's a light that shines when Michael Easton and Renee Elise Goldsberry are on the screen together in a scene. They compliment each other's acting style. When I watch them together it's effortless. It flows and it's believable. There's a natural joy to it all.
It makes sense to put this natural pairing back together for the benefit of us all. It's entertaining. It's romantic. It is fun to watch and it is what has been missing on our screens.
John and Evangeline just make sense.
